A few days ago, Teehan+Lax replaced their homepage with a long and poignant blog post explaining their move to Facebook and the desicion to cease to be a service agency. This was some big news in the web design community especially the Toronto web community where Teehan+Lax have been a staple. Teehan+Lax gained a lot of traction with projects like Readability, Medium, and their iOS PSD’s.
It seems only the leadership are making the trip to California to join Facebook as Techcrunch reports about 40 T+L employees were let go.
It’s a bit of sad news for me personally. As a Toronto based web designer you tend to think about working with, or for, an amazing agency like T+L. It’s also sad for us as a boutique agency to loose a company that brought such amazing attention to the design community here, although it’s hard not to be happy for such a talented group of people.
The question that now remains is who will step into the void? Where will the remaining T+L employees end up? and how will that affect the community here in Toronto?
